Striking Aposematism: Blue (14x11 acrylic on canvas)

A “Blue and Black” poison dart frog suspended in a black void. “Aposematism” refers to nature using vibrant colors to signify toxic danger. The frog is in limbo between liquid and solid. The liquid being the “Batrachotoxin” found in poison dart frog species. Are you optimistic? The 2 way drips (up AND down) leaves the viewer to decided whether the frog is forming or melting. The pattern of the puddles, if fully melted would visually represent the organic structure of the toxin. This is the first entry of the series.

Did you know? Poison dart frogs do NOT form their own poison, but rather from the diet in their environments. A lot to unpack there, metaphorically!

Own it!
